Hi!
I am taking some advice from previous threads and trying to increase my nutrients. My hope is to try and do this through feeding and not have to dose. In my effort to do this I am feeding my tank a ton!
Tank: 26 gal nano
Age: 1.5 yrs. Yes i have corraline growth all over
Fish: Two clowns, coral beauty, red blenny
CUC: fire shrimp, ~10x hermits, 4x nassaurius, 12x trocus, 8x astrea, 2x turbo
Coral:
4x acans (2 with a lot of recent growth)
1x toadstool (growing fast)
1x GSP (also growing fast, need to frag this before it touches my main rock)
2x hammers (not growing much)
8x sps mix (trying not to kill, so far better than previous attemps)
4x mushrooms
Morning feed: 1/4 frozen brine, 10ml live phyto, 4ml red sea ab+
Mid day feed: pinch of flakes
Night feed: 1/4 frozen brine, 10ml live phyto, 4ml red sea ab+
Local coral feeding (acans hammers mushrooms)
Reef Roids: 3x per week (i found this to be the only way to keep my phosphates up)
Brine shrimp 2-3x per week
I measure water parameters 2-3 times per week. My nitrate and phosphate are getting to where i want but if i miss a feeding or two my numbers dip.
Nutrient management:
I do use NoPox but have cut that waaaay back to 0.5ml per day applied in the morning only.
Skimmer, on constantly but have decreased the waste output, empty container once a week at this point.
Filter sock
Water changes: 15% almost every week (life and kids sometimes cause a missed weekend)
Measurements:
NO3: 4-6
PO4: 0.02
Alk: 8.4 (also dose 1ml per day in the morning to maintain this)
Ca: 430
Mg: 1350
Does this feeding schedule seem excessive for the fish/coral load and corresponding nutrient levels? If you do think it is excessive thoughts on what is consuming it? Based on what ive read this seems like a bunch but its the only way i have found to keep the nutrients up. Also, see pic below but i do not have a algae problem (knock on wood!)
Also, shout out to all those suggesting getting the nutrients up. Corals have been looking great for the past few months since ive increased the NO3 levels!
