A feather duster can actually eject himself from his tube and find a new home and start over... Kinda of cool actually.

I will add that they don't usually leave their shells unless they are very unhappy - water parameters or sometimes extreme flow.

I found it when acclimating frags, and basting them. So it was probably very unhappy.
