Houses that flicker power in the winter; how do you handle your electronics? UPS strips?

Finally setting up our 65g tank, we do not have a gfci outlet where it’s goes (family doesn’t want me to do it myself and debating if we can get away with a power strip). Will any surge protector strip do, I see a lot of people use Kasa. We have a hydros starter x2 (has four plugs). We have WiFi but that also is unreliable sometimes. UPS seems more proactive, debating what to set up.

Kasa are just WiFi plugs, same as the Hydros. Usually they keep the settings even if they lose WiFi or power to short periods of time since that's all stored in "the cloud".

what do you think of UPS devices? Or what do you use to run your tank?

I use similar to Kasa but I don't have a battery backup. My power flickers some in the summer and occasionally I'll lose power for an hour or two and everything comes back on when the power comes back.

Has that ever been a problem for your tank? I imagine most people don’t prep for outages, I just don’t know if that’s the route we should take

Depending on equipment used, normal UPS might be sufficient but might also need something with sine wave if there are PFC power supplies. When I've used a UPS, only the filtration was hooked up to the battery.

I'd pay to get GFCI installed and make sure all cables are bent so that dripping water can not reach an outlet regardless if GFCI exists.

There are threads on power outages with lots of good info on proper backup systems that will prolong juice should an outage go beyond a flicker. Search portable power station.
