eheim universal vs eheim compactON vs eheim compact+

i've been tossing up between mainly 2 return pumps for my future setup. reading reviews in general and searching the forum has consistently led me to narrow it down to an AC pump for now, more specifically the eheim line-up. i realise the universal series has a great reputation for being reliable and solid, but no adjustable option, so throttling it seems to be the go.

the eheim compact+ 5000 has up to 1320 GPH which beats the universal 1362 at 900 GPH (allowing for head loss etc). the other things about the compact+ is that it's made by eden (under the eheim name) - so is it equally reliable? i guess so if carries the eheim name?

lastly, i've been looking for some reviews of the compactON series, but cannot find a decent one on youtube... any pointers here?

planned set up is will run a display tank and sump. total volume will be 250 gallons (sump and DT together), having posted some information here before that's going to roughly translate to 3-4x turnover per over with the 1362 , and a little over 5x with the compact+ 5000

Maybe look at the Fluval SP 4 model. Very reliable pump and it moves a lot of water,

finally bit the bullet and ordered a eheim universal after much thought. Thank you Blue Spot for your input! sorry i didn't go with fluval, but will consider it in the future ;Happy

No worries thanks for informing which one you choose. People go 10 plus years with the Ehiem pumps with little or no maintenance. Good luck.
