For some reason for the first one in months I am seeing one of my eels just coming out of the rocks and staying in open for in the same area for minutes or even a hour until he goes back in the rocks, he even goes up near the open edges of the aquarium, there even is a zebra eel there in with him but the zebra hasn't shown any of these, is this normal?

Recently I changed the sump size and piping system

It's diet consists of mackerel, whole shell and head shrimp, anchovies, clams, crabs

It has been about 3 days since he's eaten

He's been living in the tank for about 6 months

As for appearance he's bulky and does not seem I'll but it's really worrying me because of his new behaviour

My two are out a lot more like this in my new tank. He might just be getting comfortable or is out cause he is hungry. Appearance wise he looks fine to me

he may see its reflection on glass and exploring. They do not need t eat daily and can go for extended period without feeding but assure skin is normal and not heavy breathing

Indeed! It's breathing is normal, not high or low, skin is normal aswell, the only worry I have is that he's just sitting there for long periods of time

Provide adequate or more hiding as they are cave dwellers and assure nitrates mainly do not become elevated as they are messy housekeepers
