I was recommended an algae turf scrubber from eBay. This person that makes them has a lot of positive reviews. They seem to have great customer service, too.

I finally purchased my first algae scrubber. (I actually bought 2: one side flow and one HOB). Has anyone else bought their algae scrubber from this user?

It seems to be from Western Slope Aquatics and the eBay username is opha6987

What size is your tank? Are you using all 4 in one tank?

I just ordered one. Can you post a Pic of your set up?
Are you referring to me? The HOB scrubber arrived. It’s outstanding quality. I pump water through one end, and it comes out silently through the bottom with the sock that came with the unit. The square sock slides in and out seamlessly.

Thanks for sharing. Is it just wedged in between baffles in your sump? Better pics of how you mounted it? I’m thinking of getting the big unit that is 14.5 inches long and trying to picture how it’ll fit in my sump.
Also have you found the algae depletes your trace elements and are you having to dose ?

It’s a hang on back. Very similar to the hang on back sponge filters for freshwater tanks.

I am thinking of the hang on sump version. over the ice cap pro in sump.

they also make an in sump version now too. just like the ice cap pro but black.
but I am starting to think the HOS might be a better design then in sump.

would hate it to fall over and kill the lights.

I love my scrubber. It’s very well-built and easy to clean. I purchased both the down flow (with PVC) and the HOB to see which one I’d like more. The Hang on back fit my setup much easier, and it was very easy to return the other one.

Algae scrubber’s or a complete game changer, I got one a little over a year ago and it completely saved my tank, way better than any protein skimmer

Do you have a feed pump you recommended? I was having a conversation with the seller and he said a low flow pump around 200gph yielded the best results in his experience.

The Sicce 1.0 pump is great for this purpose.

I use a manifold off my return pumps.

Thanks. Do you find the scrubber depletes iron and other trace elements fast?
I’ve only had it a few months. I’m not sure if it does since I dose trace elements once a week.
