Drop off peninsulas out of favor?

I’ve been looking at tanks and seeing several YouTube videos on drop off tanks, but most are a few years old.
You can still find Nano drop offs for sale but seems intermediate sizes around 75gal are difficult to find now?
This has me wondering did they fall out of fashion? Were they a fad, and if so what was the downfall. If I were to guess maybe flow difficulties? Thought I’d ask.

Well, my impression when they came out was that they were simply a fad.

I immediately thought that they'd only be attractive to a small percentage of the hobby.
