I have a 300 gallon DD mixed reef. I have been running a bandaid method of testing alk with a apex trident and then depending on the result turning on or off a versa pump that pulls solution from my calRX.

I know this is a bad idea and so I would like to be doing this the right way by dialing in the versa pump and using the trident as a safety. The thing is I have no idea how to figure out how much calRx solution I should be pulling in ml to make up for my daily consumption.

i dont believe you can turn on and off the versa to dose.
With the versa set to continuous and plugged into an apex you can absolutely turn it on and off. I know as this is how I have been dosing for a year now. And it has conditions on the apex to turn on/off depending on my alk reading from the trident.

I know this is a playing with fire kind of scenario and I am hoping someone smarter than me can help me figure out how best to dose with the hardware I have so I am no longer doing it the way I have been doing it.

absolutely it playing with fire. that why i said it cant be done. have you tried manual adjustments of the dosage with the info from the trident? My suggestion would be the DOS since you have the apex.

Well cant and not ideal or two different things. I do not have a DOS and I do have a versa. My thinking is once I figure out how many ML of of calRx solution equates to X number of alk ppm then I could program the versa to dose X ml to maintain current Alk. Then use the trident as not only a source of param metric but also as a safety in the event something go wrong and alk(or other params) becomes too high
