I am dosing for the first time for alkalinity and started at 7.9 but went to 9.5 which is well over the recommended 1.4 daily increase.
Will this damage the reef? If so, do I need to do a water change to correct or will it be okay, just don’t dose anymore ?

You don't want to have major swings to be honest, so if it was relatively quickly raised to 9.5 then I'd just stop dosing and let it come down on its own while monitoring and then once it comes back to where you want it try and keep it stable. I won't hurt anything being at 9.5 for the time being.
