This is my birdsnest from about 10 years ago and I forgot the type/source

Is this still around and does anyone have an id/source? It was really nice in person and was pink with greens and yellows

I used to have that...
Its called the ORA Panape birds nest.
Got rid of it, because it grows about as fast as GSP under right conditions, and completely devistated my alk + ca.
Also got too big for my nano.

But Vivid looks like they have some:

I have one the size of a basketball now. It has enveloped and killed everything around it. 3 acro crabs live in it. I let my corals do what's natural and don't impede their growth. The strong survive just as nature expects.

Yes this one got big and I made nice frags every few months and traded to lfs for credit. I am thinking of doing that again because my lfs has decent coral but it’s expensive and I think something like this would be easy and fast to grow, and the rainbow frags would be appealing to the store

Nice, I never let mine get that big. I kept fragging back and selling/trading

My Millie I loved and let grow out, this started as a single 2” stick

That’s it at the top of the rock work, about 12” from 500w of halide and 4 t5’s

I’ve been lps only for a few years and swore off sps. But going down memory lane has me thinking twice about that…maybe I should get some frags and setup the dosing pumps

I dont know what my par was but I imagine insane. I had a tank mounted 716w fixture about 6-8” above the glass lids. The first day I had it on during my build one of my glass tops cracked from the heat. Must have had a defect but still.

I was growing sps sticks into mini colonies easily in the sandbed

I’m adding fish currently, I should have the orange anthia in the next few weeks

I just added a solid yellow chromis and a yellow (commonly incorrectly called coris) wrasse.

Trying to decide if I should get just one female anthia or 1 male and 2 females

I just have one in my tank. It's an interesting neighborhood with a 6 line and blue damsel on the same block but they get along fine

Man, I tried and tried, just can’t do it.
SPS wins out every time.
That’s my go to as well, grow out and trade for more at LFS.
Zoas grow like crazy under halides on the sand. They are LFS bread and butter. I guess one good thing about the change in the hobby is depending on the Zoa, you can put 1 polyp or 5 on a plug.
I just reset the tank several months ago and traded in a bunch of the coral. Didn’t cost a dime to restock. So if you have a good LFS start fragging lol.

Those orange anthias are one of my favorite fish in my tank.

There lyretails... i would know, liveaquria, well quality marine, because it shipped from california, sent me 5 of them saying they were Dispars... lol...

There absolute Gangsters tho. There not peaceful at all with each other, and have already started a pecking order inside the QT tank.

You mean you got the super rare canary chromis?
Can i say eyehaychoo? you have all the things i dream about, yet could never stomache to buy due to if i was to ever lose it...

Im still super jealous at your Rainbow Goni 2.... btw... i decided to give the 2 part as its perminent designation, and you should call it that too and say its part of the designer name.

:beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

But im sort of mixed about these lyres... they are eatting they even attack the pipette which has food in it. Thats how vicious they are when it comes to feeding.
But i wanted something more peaceful like randals or dispairs.

I saw your thread about being sent lyretail by mistake! These are supposed to be professionals I don’t know how they did that and then argue they are right

Yes I got the canary chromis. I also got another rare one called a lined chromis but unfortunately he didn’t make it through the night. No physical signs of any issues. Just was swimming crazy in the morning and laying on the sand off and on. He passed before I had a chance to attempt any meds

The yellow chromis gets pale when stressed or adjusting to new environment. The seller @DetroitReefClub told me after 1-2 weeks in his display tank all the color returned. And the ones he sells are in holding tanks with no coral or rocks and they all are pale because they aren’t comfortable like that. He moved some from the holding tank to the display and color returns.

When it came it was pale with no yellow. A few days later….we’ve come this far

He’s active and fast and random and very hard to photograph clearly
