Just set mine up 3 weeks ago and it’s growing fast, already trimmed once. Nitrate and phosphates are still very high and can’t seem to lower it. Going to do water change to help it a bit. Still tuning it, currently lights on for 13 hours using the tunze light.

Tried multiple times w tunze refuge light in sump and never grows. I had plenty of nutrients in my water so I know that's not the case. Now I have GFO and NoPoX to keep nutrients down along with skimmer and filter sock changes etc. Got my PO4 to 0.02-0.03 for last month or so, i'm finally happy w it. Don't get me wrong would have loved Chaeto but just won't grow. Always gets white and dies.

I've been growing cheato for about six months in the back middle chamber of my 29 biocube using a submerged Tunze eco chic fuge light. It doubles as mechanical filtration lol.

I tear a chunk off about once a month. Some parts on the side are white but most of it is healthy. Hopefully it doesn't turn as others have experienced!

Edit: I dose Cheato Grow.

I'm trying to but it's just not working I've had it in my tank for over a year and I've never harvested it once
I use the Thor X light specifically designed for this application and it just doesn't grow at all. It hasn't died. Almost died tho. My phosphates are way way off the chat somewhere around 4ppm so still struggling to get phosphates under control for the entire lifetime of my system of 1.5 years
I usually get the ciano off it and get it tumbeling again but I just got back from being away on a work trip for 2 weeks and that's why it's just sitting there right now

So I just introduced my chaeto last week and I am getting chaeto bits EVERYWHERE. I have strands free floating in my tank, pieces hanging on my powerheads, sump grills, etc. Is this just a normal part of refugium life? Or is there some way you guys deal with this.

Aww, look at that cute little baby right there. :) That is when I first received it.

I now harvest around this much every month.

The key for me is a good daylight spectrum bulb and iron supplementation.

It's easy when i make it easy.. but if i want to implement a "plan" ... meh.
So basically if i stick it in the first drain/fuge chamber with no sock, or only a mesh sock right on the main drain pipe..and just let it grow as a layer on top of the water how it wants.. and with implementing a 'strainer' on/accross the baffle top to keep it in..it does pretty good.. usually just all forms at/accross the baffle strainer like an extra filter pad.. and grows outward from there.
..But as soon as i try implementing a plan to make a cleaner controlled setup or get to spin.. "THEY SPINNIN YA'LL!!" Might work for a little.
