Hi everyone!
Just like the title says: do pests lay eggs on live sps tissue?
I currently have a 100% clean system that I started a year ago from Zero with new clean rock.
Ive been trying my best to avoid harmful parasites.

I have this question because a good friend of mine wants to give me some sps cuttings, and he has had flatworm problems in the past. (As far as I know they can get controlled but not fully erradicated).

So Ive been reading around and some information on the internet state that this hitchikers wont lay eggs on live coral tissue.
So I was thinking: what if he cuts this corals and I take them straight into my home, dip them and then get them in my tank.
Would this work?

Thanks a lot!

Flatworms are a pain. So many ways to get them. A lot of wrasse will pick them off. And blue velvet nudibranch will eat them

Answer to the question is no, but eggs are usually pretty easy to spot. It's the baby's that you can't see and could possibly be on the coral itself. What I've read potassium has been the only thing documented that will actually kill them. I would tell your friend thanks but no thanks. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

I do have a yellow coris and melanorus wrasse. Im just trying to find more ways to avoid them. And since my friend has had them, I want to be extra cautious on this.

With dips being relatively ineffective and the only known consumer's of the eggs being corallivores all you can do is cross your fingers. If I'm not mistaken there's three large vendors living with them at the moment, it happens.
