DIY skimmer?

I realize this may not be the answer you’re looking to receive but I will recommend doing a quick Internet search. There are all kinds of DIY algae scrubber plans and some protein skimmer plans too. I built a DIY protein skimmer back in the mid 90’s. It was a recirculating skimmer that was 6 feet tall (7 feet with the collection cup). Thing was a beast and I gave it away with the tank when I sold the system. Probably wouldn’t fit in your DIY sump. ;)

No. There were no tutorials then, not to mention, YouTube hadn’t even been dreamt up!

LoL ! Sorry didn't think about that. Ya that's what I do is go to tube but sometimes people on here got easier ways poor smarter. I just finished my scape and recieved my sand. I'm a lil disappointed about the sand.but the tank has bin up for so long I'm just so ready to get some life in it

With the price of todays used skimmers it’s not worth a diy lol.. I picked up a curve 5 for $40 and modded the pump and I got a top of the line skimmer for less than $80… algae scrubbers are cool I’ve built them also.. just finished this one up!

Do you have a 3D printer? If so, I can send you files for printing the parts needed for a skimmer.
