Hi guys, i have for now a 16g AIO, i am gettin for a very good price (°nearly free) the tank in the photo, it should be around 20g. I would like to add a sump under it. I will take out the internal sump and make holes on the bottom for add a small sump in the cabinet under it.

How to know the correct holes diameter for return and inlet? Also, i would like to keep the holes number at a minimum but i saw that the durso overflow is considered the noisiest. the herbie is it better? in case of herbie i should do 3 holes, right?

What would you do in this case?

Better check to make sure that the bottom glass isn't tempered before you start. Hole size will depend on what size bulk head you can fit in that back section.

yes for tempered, will check and hope, the back section will be removed to do a bigger display.

Not familiar with your AIO, however, never go with one drain. A snail can restrict gravity flow from display and if available volume in sump is sufficient, you will overflow display tank.
that is a good point. and with the fact that apparently durso are noisy compared to herbie i will probably go for 3 hole in total, herbie + return.

Any math to do to see how big should be the sump and the return pump?
