Hey Reefers,

I’m trying to build a light bar to highlight fluorescence. It needs to manually dimmable.

I have a heat sink and LEDs.

There are 24 LEDs:
12 x Royal blue forward voltage: 2.95v@700mA, 3v@1000mA max current 1000mA
4 x Cool blue FV: 3.27v@700mA max current 1000mA
8 x Hyper Violet FV: 3.5v@350mA, 3.7v@800mA max current 700-800mA

What else do I need? Please be specific regarding which driver, power supply, and dimming switch.

Are you sure these leds are even able to be dimmed? Not all leds are the same and some can not be dimmed.

How familiar are you with building electronic circuits? So for example if I say you can use the MeanWell HLG-60H-48B and place your led's in 2 parallel circuits with inline fuses would you know what to do? I'm trying to gauge your level of expertise.
So the way I would approach it with the number of LED's you have is to make 2 balanced parallel circuits. Based on the LED's your wanting to use I would assume a 3.3 Vdc drop across them so 12 LED's x 3.3 Vdc you get 39.6 Vdc. The HLG-60H-48B has a constant current range of 28.8 ~ 48V, which works assuming the 3.3Vdc/led. The PS is rated at 1.3A. By using 2 balanced parallel circuits you would get a maximum of 650ma through each circuit. I would use inline fuses rated at 700-750ma. The purpose of the fuse would be to protect the LED's if one parallel circuit fails. Otherwise you could get the full 1.3A going through one circuit frying your LED's.
The HLG-60H-48B can be dimmed 3 ways. It's output is adjustable by either a 1~10Vdc signal or 10V PWM signal or resistance (potentiometer).

The other option is to do 2 individual led circuits each with their own PS.

Thank you @KenO. Thank you for the detailed response. It’s increasingly obvious I don’t know what I’m doing. I know the difference between parallel and serial circuits, but that’s about it. Your post will help guide me as I research this more.

If you have specific questions please ask. Doing 2 individual circuits might be easier. It would involve 2 PS and 2 potentiometers but the wiring would be easier.
There are other items you will also need.
