Hello guys,

Just bought this Calcium Nitrate and the basic specs the seller gave was :

Calcium Nitrate 4H20 | Calcium Nitrate Tetrahydrate, AR, 500g, BENDOSEN

CAS No. 13477-34-4
Formula: Ca(NO3)2 · 4H2O
Molar mass: 236.15 g/mol

But later on, the seller it was not ‘Food Grade’.
So is it a No No to dose in my tank to raise my NO3?

Sorry to bother you again… but what does it mean? Is it usable to dose in my tank after diluting it?

I’m worried because the seller says it is not Food Grade

Any idea how many grams per 1000ml of RODI to add? Wanting to dose around 5ml to increase 1ppm (if what I bought is usable that is)

From the other thread:

Yes, it's a fine choice. It's a tiny bit less potent because of the four water molecules in the crystals, but it;s a good grade and perfectly suitable.

AR means analytical reagent and is a good, high quality grade.

Use it just like any other calcium nitrate, but since it is a little less potent, you'll end up using a bit more, but since you determine a dose by trail and error, it won't matter.

Thanks Randy… your statement really helped me a lot …

Yeah… had to do some trial and error to determine the right dosage to mix and to dose…

Thank you once again Randy
