Hey all, looking for a little help here.
IMG_7721.jpg
I will soon be upgrading from a #Deskmate (5G) to something like a #WaterBox 15G (or similar). Looking for advice on how to properly transition livestock without another cycle.

My thoughts on how to do so:
When ready.... I was going to move over the previous rock (probably 4lbs), bioballs and livestock only. I will add new sand. *Tank is 8 months old
Would it be beneficial to start cycling the extra dry rock I have now with water from water changes?
Should I seed any old sand with the new sand?

Just looking for proper steps and how to avoid a cycle.

Honestly, just move the rock over and you’re done. It’s not all that complicate. I’ve never experienced any ”mini-cycles” during a tank move. the addition of new dry rock shouldn’t cause any problems.

You might find your nutrients to be a tad lower, simply due to the Increased volume and surface area of the new tank. Probably wont cause any signifcant issues, just something to note.

Hey! Beautiful tank! I have no advice on how to switch tanks as my first tank is coming this weekend. It's going to be a Deskmate 4.8 like yours!

My question is what ATO are you using? I'm looking for the perfect one for the deskmate 4.8 gallon.

Also, any other advice for someone just starting out a 4.8 deskman? You have clearly done everything right!

Beautiful tank.
