Love seeing pics of all the beautiful montis, but usually i only see frags, and i have no idea which ones plate vs only encrust.

I want a few for my new setup, but only want playing varieties. Which are your favorite plating montis?

I have a small plate starting on the back wall in my tank. I had a large plate that grew against the wall before I remodeled and a frag was left on the back wall, it’s starting to plate in a few places.

Frags if encrusting monties will encrust the plug, where plating monties generally look like a broken plat that was glued to the plug.
My phone picture is not that exciting but it’s all I have.

Not too big of a fan of the grafted. IMO just the good old orange and red ones look nice. Not exactly considered a plating monti but I absolutely love the spongodes.

I have one growing on the bottom of my tank. Totally forgot about it and I was just looking at it yesterday.

I have a rock "penninsula" in my tank that I've filled with different plating montis. My personal favorite has to be the JF Slow Burn or Seasons Greetings.
In the photos you can see Seasons Greetings, regular red monti cap, green monti cap, and green spongodes:

I’m not usually a huge fan of most Montipora but in my SPS nano system I made an exception for 4 Montipora and haven’t regretted it since!
Only one is actually a playing Montipora, the other three are all more encrusting/tall growth patterns.
My Orange ‘Capricornis’, nothing will beat the orange burst you get from this guy!

My Green Spoingodes, I have quite a few green SPS in this system however the most of it comes from this guy.

My Sunset Spoingodes (Not the Mystic), this guy is alright but if I had to remove a Monti it would likely be this guy. I prefer my Acros anyway.

My Red/Gold Digitata, those gold polyps on the base are genetic and not caused by low Magnesium. I wish the new growth at the top also had those gold polyps.
