I honestly can't wait to get my eyes on one of these guys. Deltec has added another size to their super impressive new i/ix skimmer line! I will be getting these here in a month or two with my next shipment! Perfect skimmer for a smaller system.

Here's the blurb

The new innovative internal protein skimmer from Deltec.

The Deltec 'i' DC pump range of protein skimmers incorporate a new emergency overflow system that prevents the collection cup from overflowing in the event that the sump water level suddenly exceeds the skimmers specified water depth or the air intake becomes blocked. As the water level rises within the protein skimmer body the air feed to the pump will shut off automatically via the emergency overflow further reducing the chance of foam flooding the cup if the water level in the sump should ever rise due to a return pump failure.

The new protein skimmers also include minimum and maximum adjustment level marks on the outlet pipework for easy setup.

The 'double base' footplate design allows water to exit the protein skimmer body into a void within the footplate and into the integrated level adjustment tube and the emergency overflow tube. This new design feature means that water will exit the protein skimmer body at the lowest point greatly reducing the chance of microbubbles escaping the body, increasing air-water contact time and also reducing noise and turbulence within the protein skimmer body.

Due to waste accumulation and calcium carbonate build up protein skimmer pumps generally have to perform in a harsh environment and need to be cleaned periodically to maintain peak performance. With this in mind, Deltec has incorporated a quick tool-less removal system for the pump allowing for easy disassembly, in tests Deltec has been able to remove a pump for cleaning in less than 20 seconds meaning less time spent maintaining equipment and more time to enjoy your aquarium.

  • Rated for 30 to 100 gallon systems
  • Power consumption 9 watts with 350 liters of air (in normal operation)
  • Dimensions (LXBXH) 10 x 5 x 20 inches
  • Pump Deltec DCC 1 with 24 Volt technology.
  • For sumps with 6 to 10" water level

400's are now ready to ship immediately!

I've never had a deltec product, when I bought the skimmer for my setup it was a toss up between deltec and nyos. Nyos won, only because I found one used!

Will this have the swabbie to clean the cup like the other models?

On a 45g tank with sump (about 60g water volume) do you think this would be the best fit or do you think the 600 would work better for my application?

Look pretty cool.

When I researched last, the NYOS seemed to be quieter. This new model look quieter.

I wish I had known this was coming out before I bought a skimmer for my Waterbox 70.2. I have the Deltec 600ix for my 120 and love it.

I'm on the list to get one for a new build. I will get some pics & throw em' on my thread. My old setup had a skimz, (pump died X2) then a nyos, hated how the cup attached & would weld itself together w/out some food grade silicone lube. Super stoked to watch out the window for delivery.

Not sure if they have a wiper lid for this guy yet.

Neato! I'm very interested -- My old skimmer just broke right when I added fish to the system. The 400i would be the perfect size!

@Battlecorals they advertise the 24v technology. Thats probably related to the EB832s 24v port, that can do up to 30w. I wonder if its plug and play?!

I see that Adam has already answered, but I have a 600i on a 45G tank with a Reef Synergy TS26 sump. I've been using it since September and it's awesome. It's the quietest skimmer I've had, the neck cleaner is a helpful addition, and it consistently pulls out dark skimmate. I don't think you'll go wrong with a 400, but I think the 600 would still work great for you.
