Cycling question:

I am using Tropic Marin Syn-biotic salt to cycle with. I know it should be cloudy then settle and clear up. It has been 3 weeks since I started the cycle. My water is still very cloudy. My cycle is almost complete but my water is still cloudy. Does anybody know much about this salt. Any help/recommendations would be appreciated.

I have used the same salt for 15 years and have never had a cloudy condition.

When I mix the salt the water is clear. But after I have put the water into the tank it becomes cloudy. No sure if there is a bacteria bloom...

Do you have sand on the bottom but that would settle pretty quick. Sounds like bloom. Like I stated I just did a water change over the weekend and tank is clear. Its been a long time since I had to deal with Blooms like that. Maybe search for bacteria blooms and how to resolve them. Once the salt is mixed it does not unmix. What all are you putting in to cycle the tank?

I do have sand but it does not seem like it is sand. That should have settled within a few hours if that. I used Dr. Tim's one and only with ammonia drops. I also put in Microbacter 7

Do you have nitrite? I would stop using Microbactor7 for now till it cycles. Dr. Tims usually states not to use other bacteria with it. Stop feeding the tank for a couple days see if it clears out maybe do a water change to get rid of some of the bacteria. How big is the tank?

Stop feeding the tank anything for a few days and do a water change to help remove some Bacteria wait and see if it clears up. Do you have Nitrates? What is Nitrite level and Nitrate levels tank is still cycling you just have to get the Bacteria bloom down. how many gallons is the tank?
