I have been using a SCA-301 skimmer possibly for 7-8 years without major issues. I think I replaced the impeller once. I recently switched my controller from Reefangel to APEX which shows power consumption. My return pump is a DCT-6000 and I am possibly running at 40%, it shows 26w for power consumption, my skimmer shows it is using 56w. Considering it is just creating bubbles, it is not a very power efficient pump (I think it is ph1100). Skimmer itself works fine, I don’t think I need to buy a $900 skimmer to solve my power consumption. I wonder what my options would be if I want to replace my skimmer pump. I was looking at Jebao pumps with needle impellers but getting your inputs would be great.
Considering this pump runs 24/7, I could actually save some $$$.
