Corals dying?

So I added a new torch coral and an acan today. But before I did that I added 1 new rock to change up my aqua scape to add some more room for more corals. Doing so I also rearranged all my pre existing coral. Now they all look super droopy and not doing well at all and before all this they were doing great. This jsut started and the new coral and rock has been in tank a few hours. Any suggestions?

Corals can get aggravated when moving them around.

It was an old piece of dried live rock I had from my old tank from about a year ago. The existing rock in the tank was the same rock but I decided to just add another after a few months

Did you rinse the new rock in RODI first? How old is your tank? Not unusual for corals to close after being handled and moved.

Give em a little time. Coral like stability. Moving them around creates instability. It may take a few hours or days for them to open back up.

I did not rinse the rock. Probably should of! But I was confident enough that it was clean to add to tank as it was from my old tank a long time ago so it got dried up. Though it was a little moist still from sitting in a 5 gallon bucket closed up

There could be some organic die off on the rock which may cause a very low level ammonia release. Do a 20% water change and run some carbon just to be safe.

I got some carbon in the filter already. I did a 20% change just before I added the rock and coral. Am I good to wait till tomorrow evening to do another 20%?

Yes, I would think so as long as your fish appear normal. If you have a test just check for ammonia just to be safe. The corals are probably just mad from the move.

Fish seem to be acting normal. I’ll do another water change tomorrow evening after work and see how they are doing. I do add Dr Tim’s first defense after water changes and adding anything new just as an extra precaution

I don’t think so. Only what’s pictured above. I’m still new to the leather, LPS, and SPS stuff
