Coral identification needed & help.

Hi can somone identify this coral for me.
It was sold to me as a GSP a month ago in a LFS.

I believe this is tubipora musica. Pipe coral.

After I got it ot was ok for few days then it started to close up, it remains closed for a month now and I dont know what to do.
The coralnits very brittle and if I brush it or blow it with Turkey blaster I'm literally blowing away the coral like the coral its Detoriating week by week ?

I believe I got sold tubipora musica instead of gsp, and pipe corals need more calcium ?


My water parameters are ok, but I presume that my tank it's to young, as I have then tank for 4 - 5 month only. In using good salt mix with RO water.
I live on a island and I have an option to get salt water from the sea. I tested sea water we have around here and it's high on calcium,alkalinity and magnesium.

What should I do ?
Supplement the water?
Get sea water?
Give it time ?
How do I save the coral ?

Atm I'm having a diatom bloom as well.

It looks like GSP to me. I've had GSP die before - it's very rare that it happens and I'm not sure why. My GSP refuses to open sometimes if there's either too much or too little flow. In my tanks it also enjoys light but doesn't like being blasted. Usually it likes somewhat dirty water with some nitrates and some phosphates.

If you have both Nitrites and Ammonia your water is basically toxic. You need to get some nitrifying bacteria going to convert that into nitrates only.

Not necessarily true... Corals use ammonia and nitrite for food. Also, if the OP is using a test that measures total ammonia, the free ammonia is likely actually 0. And nitrites in a reef tank (unless EXTREMELY high) are harmless to fish and inverts.

I use NT labs marine test kit.

I just looked it up. It looks like it's sold on eBay and maybe in the UK? It's similar to the API test kits from what it looks like.

Looks like closed up gsp to me also .
As for you collecting your own water ,I've never done this and no expert on the matter but I presume your In Jersey In the English Channel which is one off busiest shipping lanes in the world so would look into and research what the water is like first before using that as could have lots off contaminants in it from diesel and the likes,as I say im no expert on that and door know how clean/ unclean water is in English channel but guessing its not the best ha ha.
And if did use ,I would be wanting to filter it first .

Appears as GSPand require subdued light and moderate to medium water flow and yours is in a l;ocation which will get little of both. A little nitrates and phos acceptable.

Also look for Any pests on the gsp,I had in total 30 odd I pulled off in first few weeks of last gsp I bought,also can get nudis that eat gsp,think maybe picture from another poster in this thread off mine showing a gsp eating nudi.

Just found 3 of these sea slug/ cucumber/nudi looking things. Hasn't got the frilly Gill things that nudis have on their back so probably rules that out. It's on a gsp that just bought and camouflage quite good same colour as top of gsp frag like browny/ white,2 are very small like 8-12 mm long...

I have some unfit branches that I constantly see on top of Gsp closed polyps.
Is it possible that they eating the gsp ?

The same nudi branches that you had on tpur video, I have loads of them and I see them on top of the gsp constantly but I never though they will ear them ?

The same nudi branches that you had on tpur video, I have loads of them and I see them on top of the gsp constantly but I never though they will ear them ?

The ones I shared in videos in my thread above from my own research and others in that thread and many other similar threads lately,say that they eat soft corals ( don't specifically eat only gsp but alot of soft corals) there is a name in my thread,see if can find it for you so you can look it up yourself,

But a picture of yours would help others help you Id it for you also
