Hi everyone, im a reefer from Chile and im surprised that in the few years ive been in the hobby i discovered there is a lot of fellow reefers here in my country. But many stores and local hobbist dont really know what they sell or give generic names that are often not very accurate or just wrong.
I got a few pieces that i cant identify and would love to know if anyone can tell what they are. (Common names or maeby what family or kind of coral)
Thanks.
my guess is:

drsgon soul goniastrea
Lobophyllia
Lobophyllia

I believe those are acanthastrea pachysepta and not lobos. Lobos don't have the orange coloration.

Dont think its an acan, have a few and totally different looking. Single big polyp. Almost lobo size.
Acanthastrea pachysepta don't look like your typical acans or micromusa as they are now known.

This is an example of an Acanthastrea pachysepta

Wow… you might be right. Never heard of it before and looking at that colony opens a new posibility. I was thinking in micromusa but now i remember acanthastrea is a whole other thing.
thank you.

1. Merulinidae sp. Definitely not favia as there are no favia in the hobby. Some will tell you that it is Coelastrea palauensis, but this is not true, as C. palauensis looks different. This coral is either Dipsastraea rosaria, Goniastrea thecata, or some large polyped Favites sp.
2. Acanthastrea pachysepta, commonly misidentifed as Lobophyllia
3. Also Acanthastrea pachysepta
