Hello fellow reefers! So I have a random problem for my pico tank. I was experimenting with a new low flow pump that I found on Amazon. Unfortunately I had it in the tank and running for about a day or two before I caught that it had copper wiring. Anyone have any intelligent insights on the possibility this has already seeped into the water? I removed it immediately after discovering.

I guess I am not following . Pretty much all small pumps have copper wiring that is encased in plastic or epoxy. Unless pumps is not rated for saltwater and copper is exposed or there is a crack/break in plastic/epoxy you should be fine. IF this is not the case and you have reason to believe copper got into tank you can use a poly filter pad to remove it.

This is the product. They say they use a copper wire motor. It does not appear damaged but since it's such a cheap product, and not clearly defined as usable for saltwater I thought assuming the worst case is the route to go.

AQUANEAT Aquarium Circulation Pump, Fish Tank Powerhead Pump, Saltwater Wave Maker, Submersible Water Pump, Suction Cup, 2pcs (Small 480 GPH) https://a.co/d/gt6vn8x

I've used these with no issues

Can you provide a link? Your picture doesn't show up and the Amazon link doesn't point to the product.

As mentioned, all AC, DC pumps use copper windings in their pumps.

Unless for some reason, the copper was exposed to the water, you don't need to worry.

Keep in mind that there are some pumps not suited for saltwater. They may have metal components exposed to water that will do fine in fresh, but not the corrosive saltwater.

But that's another story.

Edit: I see that this site automatically hyperlinks a-mazon. Which is silly... I don't understand the point.

i bought it because I was trying to look for a very small impact on the flow rate, like around 100 gph in addition to what I already had. I wasnt using it as a circulation pump but as a wave maker

from what you sent this is an aquarium pump and a magnetic drive at that and is safe for tank use.
