Convert Fiji Vube 24" Sump into Fuge

I want to convernt my 24" fiji cube sump's skimmer section into a fuge and am have trouble deciding what to do to keep algae in the fuge section. It does not have slits on the baffle and no easy way to add a sponge to help hold loose algae back. Has anyone made this conversation? Any suggestions or photos of what you did?

 

[Spare time]

Just get a large course sponge and place it in or over the hole for the next chamber. That's what I did.
