So, im moving into a new house and am considering getting a 150cm sw tank.
i need you guys to give me some recommendations on these things

-cheap, efficient lights (or no lights at all and no corals)
-putting stuff in sump
-cheap CUC
-stocking that will be compatible with a regal angel and a naokos wrasse
-how to minimize costs in every way

thanks guys!

Nothing is cheap in this hobby,

To me at least suggesting no lights on even a fish only tank is strange, why go to the trouble of setting one up to not see your efforts properly

Make a dark tank

Especially if fish only

Reef lights are not cheap

Get some fluorescent silicone decorations, and beam blacklight UV lights

And very fluorescent colored fish. That would flash brilliant color when they went under the beams

You can go deep with one of those for greater impression

Blackout film the backs and sides. RGB light strips behind it

Anyway, just a suggestion. Would look cool

I don't think you would even need a sump for this. I think Cade and Waterbox make large All In One systems. That would cut costs, Cades nor WBes not cheap though

When i meant no lights, i meant no lights for coral. Shouldve clarified. If there are cheap reef lighta ill do a reef, otherwise ill just do a fowlr with some strip lights.

i might diy a sump or just go with canisters

You can add reef capable lighting at any time. Start it as FOWLR.

Do the filtration right. Sump and skimmer.

Can just have glass cut and silicone it into a glass tank for a sump.

You can use standard shop lights for fish only. They sell them now as led for like $40 usd 4' long.

thanks all, i think ill do fowlr because i might add some non coral safe fish. The cubboard does have space for a sump, so ill just get a 30 gal and diy it. I have a skummer too.

You can get cheap reef rights on aliexpress or just use a bunch of LED strips in the correct wavelength

wait, could i get 3-4 lominie asta 20s? Theyre nano spotlights around 50 bucks each, covering a max of 50cm, getting 4 would cover at least 200cm (might even get more of them).

would this be enough to support
-Acans, lobos, blastos,sculys and chalices
-montipora (plating and encrusting) and acropora
-zoas
-an anemone

this is most likely going to be a SPS and LPS dominated reef with a small amount of softies.
stocking most likely would be of around 10-12 fish

1x wrasse of some sort
1x regal angel
a couple tangs
mandarin dragonets
gobies
hawkfish

just a very oversized skimmer and some filter media in the sump with bioballs and a refugium

The amazon post won't come up but the most common version like that would be something like this https://a.aliexpress.com/_msoaw5W
But for 150cm you could get away with 1 nice light like a knockoff radion

If you want to go "cheap" then go with a smaller tank. Bigger tank = bigger costs.
