Anyone ever run an ai blade grow and a Fluval marine together? I upgraded to a blade for my Fluval 32 gallon but it has only blue and white, so I was wondering if there would be any benefit to running the marine with only the reds and greens at a low level. Would be mostly just for visuals to help the corals pop (red scan for example) as I understand those colors don’t add much for corals growth wise. Currently run the blades at about 70% blue and 20% white.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Light is light. Food is food. Just make sure you don't run red and green above 15% algae really likes those colors.
I don’t believe the above has any validity at all.

I wonder if Sanjay would agree with the above statement

Ok sorry, there's probably some more info I should of thrown in there. You should probably measure par for different areas of the tank. But if you think my statement is super wrong, could you elaborate why, because striking it down without saying why you disagree doesn't help anybody.

#1) light is (NOT) light
Light needs to be of the correct spectrum and intensity. Also spread/coverage. Cost per watt. Warranty, customer service, data to back claims. Hype verses science.

#2) Food is (NOT) food
Food can be anything from flake to pellet to frozen to live. So many different varieties. Food can be for fiber intake, protein intake, fat intake. Food is not food.
If you have high pO4 and are feeding Nori and reefroids, you are going to be in trouble.
If you have a morish idol and feed mysis only, you (Idol) are going to be in trouble.

Put the shoe on the other foot for a moment........................................
You are new, you have never kept fish or corals and your LFS sells you a $5000.00 system and their advise is....
"Light is Light and Food is Food .....................How successful do you think you will be.

We aren't all experts here, people come here for solid advise that is well thought out and instructive.
Not Vague opinions that have no real substance.

Josh just released a video from WWC, I think its brilliant. This is the type of advise we should all be trying to share.

I've been reefing for 40+ years, I'm still learning.

Do you mind sharing a pic of your tank or multiple tanks ?
I would love to have you share your success with everyone.

You are right I am still new and I haven't kept fish yet, but I am keeping corals. If you want to see my tank go to my build thread. I didn't mean to come off hostile in my last post I just wanted you to clarify because I would like to learn too, so I can give better advice.

I try to be a mentor to those that want to learn, 40+ years of reefing, I've seen it all.
I owned and operated an all saltwater reef store, I've owned and operated a wholesale facility of marine fish only. Owned and opperated a collecting facility in Hawaii that shipped fish all over the world. Owned and operated a custom glass aquarium building company. Currently have a Reef UV Bulb supply company and just started a new frag farm facility.
I enjoy sharing my knowledge to the community.

Are you still using the lid with the AI Blade installed? I have read on R2R that it is possible while still using the stock lid, however, I am just wondering if there are a bunch of modifications that need to be done to make this work.

I got lid lifts from Etsy and I just have the blade resting on the tank, not installed on the lid. If I were to add the Fluval light back I’d install it in one of the lid slots. The blade unfortunately didn’t fit in the lid
