I have this stuff that kind of looks like cobwebs coming from this one particular rock...anyone know what it is?

Yeah the smaller type can spread quickly and as every one said they can irritate corals. I use to take a little knife or screwdriver and just pop of their shells. From what I have seen they usually don't bury themselves deep in the rock they just make spiral shell on the outside of the rock. I have seen some large ones (about the size of a pencil eraser) that have some awesome colored bodies, like flourescent orange and green.
