Clownfish Fighting ? Or mating ?

Hello,

recently purchased a pair of clown fish.

( They were paired at the time of purchase)

along with a sebae Anemone. I have had these guys for about 5 days and just 2 days ago I got them to host the anemone.

everything was good up until yesterday and am worried / wondering if I should pull one out and QT.

They look to have been fighting one of them has the scar on it’s forehead and the other on the lip. It seems like one is just trying to hide in the anemone and get away from the other one. The other seems to keep nipping / bothering the other. Are these normal signs ? They were too focused to eat anything today / yesterday. Should I separate the pair ?

They’re both doing the “ twitch “ so I’m guessing they can’t decide ?

They seem to be roughly the same size. One will establish its dominance over the other and will be the female. Sometimes the bullying can be very brutal. I’ve has to separate a pair before. Usually they get it sorted out but I would keep an eye on them.

I have two clown fish that do this. One is the female and one is the male. The female rules the roost. She has never accepted him. She will not let him near her BTA, so I had to buy him a long tentacle anemone, and now there is peace. Each has their own home. Divorce fish style.
