Hi everyone I come home the other day to one of my clownfish attacking the other the ones in a pretty bad way it’s mouth is quite bad and it’s fins are all ripped up and it’s swimming funny almost on its side/back what would be the best things to do in terms of treatment or anything to give it the best chance I have since separated them also has a mark on its body

What size tank and how many clownfish in it? There are antibiotic fish medications you can use in QT mainly soaking it in food.

Yes I’ve isolated him now in a low flow section of the tank hoping it will help a little bit so he’s not using as much energy with the flow but seems to be swimming on his side/back the tank is around 120 litres and there is 2 in there

How long have they been in the tank together? Were they a mated pair? I don't think two large female clowns would do well together but I could be wrong. (in a 30 gallon tank)

I had the one in a small box for a few days attached to the side of the tank but Notting seemed to bother them then introduced them it to the tank let the one out the night before went to work come back and the one was pinned under the pot fins and mouth all ripped up and can’t swim properly could have been two females because this one’s pretty beaten up and swimming funny now the slim coating on the pictures looks pretty thick as well I noticed I was going to give her or him a 1 hour bath in paragauard or do you think that might be a bad idea with the condition of the fish being stressed out as it is thanks

if they are both males, they will go at eachother, try putting the culprit into another acclimation box, as a jail

Yes they definitely been split up now it’s the condition of the fish I’m worried about now with not being able to swim or eat properly there is a chance they where both females but no real aggression towards each other why they where in the box or when first released in to the tank until I got back from work the next day the worse thing is the more expensive one has come a lot worse off as well ‍♂️

These clownfish are amazingly vicious when they decide who's gonna be the boss. If one of them is too weak it often goes into shock and dies from the trama.

If they are different colors, like black, and another orange, then imo they will attack, its clown racism as my lfs calls it, imo the black one always killed itself, idk why.

Yes i have 6 pairs of them in separate tanks and the one that’s attacked this one in the bigger tank is normally pretty aggressive anyway but she seemed to be chilled with this one why it was in the box every time you put your hand in to clean she attacks my hand so I know she’s not the best candidate to pair up she get on with my tangerine Picasso fine when they where together before that I was trying pair her with a black storm she didn’t go to town on him like she has with this one but I separated them because she had him pinned up in the corner all the time but wouldn’t full on attack like this all the rest I’ve paired up like my black Picassos and so on I’ve never seen this much damage especially in a 12 hour period until now

I have always been amazed at how hard these little fishes can bit our hands. I don't have the patience to deal with pairing them anymore but they make cool offspring if it works out. GL>

Yes I’ve noticed this I was attempting to pair it with a naked for now but seems it hasn’t worked out too good the naked will probably go back with the tangerine Picasso for now or permanently as long as she doesn’t turn against him as wel, just gotta hope this one makes it through or anything I can do for it to help it as it’s one of my more special ones but he’s not looking the best swimming around on his side or just vertical not moving his body too much like they normally do
