4 months ago my first fish of new set up was a black ocellaris clown. Couple of questions: Would it have converted to female, being by itself this long? If so, if I add a juvenile male, what are the chances they form a pair bond?

I think I read somewhere that once the highest ranking male left without a female sex change starts to happen in vaguely around a month time.

Question is how big is your clown is it mature or not, I guess you bought it from a shop 4 months ago, but fish sold could be half year old easily or even more depending on how big was yours, so your fish could easily be a year old.

What I would do is to go to a shop where they have a goup of clowns (smaller than yours now) and choose one of the smallest ones from the group thats surely gonna be a male.
