So all you do is break the clam open and put it in the tank
Ok thanks was not sure blended them up last time and just put it in with the other food thanksWhen I feed clams, I just open them and drop them in the tank - remove the shells a little while later after it's been cleaned.
That was what i was thinking i guess you just have to use some common sense some times you get tunnel vision just wanting to help your glass box friendsThat is fine for tiny clams, the clams I use are 4 or 5" across and would just crash the tank.
Thanks. I'm going to have to try this.I think i get it if its a small tank cut it shred it and feed bigger tank with a bigger load meaning fish drop clam in there smaller tank use smaller clam
Tried shredding yesterday going to try the whole clam when i can get some more not ok with the size i got think they are way to big for dropping in the tank on the halfshellThanks. I'm going to have to try this.
I just went to the grocery store just to try read this post is what made me do it but somewhere it said they were cheap it was a 1.50 for just 1 have to go to a srafood store i guessSo where do you get them? Is it best to go to local seafood, box store or lfs. Don't have the option of harvesting
I'm going to guess it's depends on locationI just went to the grocery store just to try read this post is what made me do it but somewhere it said they were cheap it was a 1.50 for just 1 have to go to a srafood store i guess
Locally our Costco has clams by the small bag on weekends. Some all you can eat Chinese restaurants also carry them steamed and might be willing to sell some live. Look for any restaurant the sells steamers. In they Binghamton and Elmyra NY areas some of the bars sell steamers as well. Ask around if you cannot find any. You maybe surprised. So where do you get them? Is it best to go to local seafood, box store or lfs. Don't have the option of harvesting

I can get live clams from several grocers near me. I love clam chowder and make it several times a year. I'm going to give this a go next time there's some live clams on hand for that. Looking forward to testing this out. Should be on Friday as reading this made me crave some chowder
