Hello everyone.

Bought an aqua cultured baby maxima clam, 1.5" length, almost 2 weeks ago.
Mantle was fully open when I purchased it. However it did not look too happy when i place it in my tank.

From the photos, a section of the mantle did not open.

Need some opinion if it is the dreaded pinch mantle disease?
Would you guys advise doing a freshwater dip for it? Would the clam be too small for a freshwater dip?
The baby maxima have attached to the rock it is on. And the crocea beside it was purchased around 4-5 weeks ago. Tank is relatively new, around 4-5 months old.

Current water parameters:
SG 1.026
Nitrate - undetactable
Phosphate - 0.02
DHK - 8
Calcium - 400

That clam needs lots of light! I’m not sure what you have for lighting but the crocea looks happy and is a lower light clam.. I’d guess you need to move it up higher in your tank and blast it with more light!

I'm not sure light is the issue here. Something is bothering the mantle, but your nutrients are virtually zero, which isn't good for any animal. I think you need to feed your fish more. I'm not sure it's PMD or something is irritating the mantle? There looks to be recent growth on the shell, so take a closer look and see if there's anything bothering it? And feed more or add some P & N.

T.Crocea is the most light demanding clam of them all.
