I got a citron goby two days ago and noticed it has some black looking dots on his tailfin. Should I be worried or is there anything I need to do? I have in him a QT right now with a Royal Gramma that I got the same day. It has been eating the Mysis and brine shrimp I've fed to it. The second picture it's harder to tell but the first pic shows them on his tailfiin.

May be lymphocystis and at this time:
Assure water quality ios good )ammonia and nitrate not elevated)
The dots remain the same count or less and does not increase.
The diet provided is good but may offer excess mucus and white poop. Add marine cuisine and LRS nano frenzy. Even copepods.

Thank you!
Yes, Sorry forgot to add water parameters, nitrates and ammonia are zero, I tested and did a water change today.
I’ll keep an eye on the count of dots.
I’ll get those foods to add to its diet!
If it is lymphocycstis should I be worried it will spread it to my other fish?

Its viral if Lympho and with good water quality and diet, it falls off by itself
What test kits are you using?

Okay, I'll keep an eye on it and watch how the goby does,
I use salifert for Nitrate
For ammonia I use the Redsea kit and then the seachem ammonia alert

For the QT I am doing an uncycled tank and I am doing 50% water changes every other day and testing daily for ammonia.

Daily changes not necessary unless you are seeing elevated levels. Be sure not to test ammonia until after at least 8 hours after water change as you may get false readings

Okay, thank you! I didn’t know that about false readings so I’ll remember that going forward!
