no reflectors. depreciates your light with a comperable fixture with reflectors by like 15%. couple years of bulbs and electricity and you can buy a couple led fixtures. LED all the way. you're handy. it's cheap to build one.

I thought one of the pages said they had reflectors that utilized 95% of all light created.

I'm not so sure I guy into the bulb-changing stuff. I think it's about like oil changes in cars...the people that tell you do do it every 3000-5000 miles are the ones that are selling you the product/service. That said, I do eventually want to go to LED's so I don't have to change any at all, and heat output is lower. My tank hit 84 degrees last night. I lost my big hippo tang. I don't think heat was high enough to cause it though....just coincidence. I've since unplugged a few powerheads (down to just two), cut my light cycle by an hour, and discovered I had a 300w heater that was still running, and a 250w that was suspect, but I can't get to it to feel it. I unplugged all my heaters.

On a side note....I have three Eheim 300w heaters. They have a warranty, and the box says to return them to the dealer or go to their website. Do the LFS's just swap them out or what?

Yeah the hippo was about 6in...looked perfectly healthy.

The lights....many things are sold at higher prices due to marketing. Just look at programmable power strips. Put a pet company name on them and they cost more than the ones at lowes.com but they are the same thing.
