Started with a baseball size of chaeto. Quickly turned into atleast 2 basketballs in a 30gallon sump.

Initial readings. Nitrates plummeted to 0.
Phosphates a constant 1.0
Mag 1500
Alk swings like crazy 7.0 to 8.4 dosing regularly
Calc always around 480.
Temp 77.0
Hair algae Aldo thriving in sump.

Noticed tissue recession on a few corals. And acro bleaching. Trimmed chaeto. Started dosing liquid nitrate. Color came back on across first within 24hrs. Hammers are still mad. Trimmed chaeto again today. Added a tuxedo urchin to dump for hair algae. Anything else I can do to help these hammers out??

My chaeto bottoms out my nutrients constantly, my guess would be it dropped yours quickly if it was the only change. Also, i am pretty sure it will suck up some of your traces which might contribute to making the euphilia mad, so it might be worth suplimenting chaeto grow.

If you're phosphates have not dropped with the growth of the chaeto and it's been a constant .1 prior to its introduction, I'd be surprised given my experience, I've had to dose 15 ml neophos daily to keep them registering, and tropic marin Plus NP.

Also I am new to this and only have anecdotes honestly.

I started dosing pristine to lower the phosphates. From 1.0. Did a heavier dose today. Other than the hammers/galaxea exposed skeleton/1 chalice and 1 acro lost color. But zoa thriving 50+ heads multiple colonies. Hollywood stunner thriving. Pectinia is doing OK. Not sure what's going on

What kind of feeding schedule on? I feed my fish twice a day pellets and frozen and nori 3 times a day in small squares. Nitrates stay 10 and phos .1 even with an algae scrubber.

Missed read that it was 1.0 phos.

Has it dropped at all with the introduction of the chaeto?

No as the chaeto grew No noticeable impact on phosphates.

The fish are
1x yellow tang
1x powder brown
1x fox face
1x dotty
3x clowns
2 massive anenomes
1x file fish
1x 6line wrasse
150 gallon tank 30gallon sump
Lighting is 4x redsea 2x 90s and 2x 160s

Feed once a day a good amount of pellets/ 5 cubes of mysis/brine/spirulina/ nori goes on clips. Fish look fat.. these are night shots so they are all closed up. Not much better during the day.

Oh wow, i have 9 fish and only do 1 freeze dried feeding (about 1 cube worth), 1 cube of frozen, and 2 feedings of about a quarter teaspoon of an assortment of pellets.

I may be under feeding, I thought I was overfeeding already trying to get my nutrients up. If I can dump 2x more than I am, maybe I can finally stop dumping 15ml of neophos ans 4ml of Plus NP in every day.

My fish are a little bigger and angrier when they dont get all of that. I usually give enough and watch them finish a good amount of food. But I feed 1x at 7am. Lights kick on at 640am. Lights off at 6pm
