Hey all, so we’re having professional carpet cleaners come, and as my tank is in my bedroom on carpet, I’m worried about fumes/chemicals getting into the tank.
I’m unsure if it’s steam only or if it’s chemicals but my parents will ask soon. So what I’m wondering is how should I prepare/prevent damage? It’s a 26 gallon so I can’t just move it. I was thinking a plastic drop cloth draped over might work but I don’t want to remove oxygen. I’ll definitely run some carbon but I don’t know what else to do. No skimmer on the tank btw. Any help/suggestions appreciated!

I don’t think you have much to worry about. If there are any chemicals they are bound up in detergents and not airborne to any significant extent. Unless your carpet cleaners show up with respirators on, I would just turn off my skimmer and maybe cover the top of my tank with a loosely draped tarp for extra good measure. Even that’s probably overkill.

Hey thanks for the quick reply! Sounds good, I’ll be sure to drape something over, I’ll open the windows and toss some carbon in and hope that will be enough. I appreciate it!
