There is been recent talk over this type camera and lens and so even though I have posted these before I wanted to post some of them again for some of you looking for this camera and lens combo as well as share the technique's used to capture them.

First off I am no photographer but I can fake it a little.

Most of these shots were taken an AV mode with a tripod and a remote to snap the pic then touched up in PS. Remember Post Processing is half the battle and a very important part. I used to think it was cheating but a pro once told me that PP is what makes most of the pro's, pro's. (if that makes sense)

Only word that comes to mind is breath taking. Ok, it's 2 words but my mind is a confusing place so it didn't notice :)

Macro Images

Fantastic shots, photography, and finishing skills Rev! I have a Rebel XT and that same lens. Curious what settings you used on your Paly/Zoa shots. I can get some really sharp areas of an image but then DOF ruins focus on the rest of the image (even within the same polyp). I'll get the front of the skirt all the way to the mouth extremely sharp, then have the other side of the polyp totally out of focus. I'm sure it's DOF related with this type of lens. I've tried various f stops and can't seem to get any shots that are focused consistantly thoughout.

Also, are you using flash? If so, are you using standard body flash, ring, or slaving off the hotshoe?

Sorry for all the questions. Ya know you're doing it right when people want to duplicate your results.

Super sharp, masterfully focused shots!

yeah seriously, and plus with all of those crazy photoshop skills rev should definitely open his own studio. he has plenty of advertising audience too, he could hand out flyers to all the partitioners as they file out. ;)

LOL! Thanks again guys. :D

RHagemann and Bob- I am not stacking, and I am using very simple settings. I am in AV mode at an ISO of 100 and auto WB. The thing is though if your at an ISO this low the subject can't move at all or you have blur, but if the subject is still you have great DOF.

That's why in order to pull these off this way you must turn off all the pumps so there is no water movement, use a tripod, and use the timer mode on the camera or use a cheapo remote like I am. I like the remote better since once you focus you can step back and click away.
