Might be a stupid question but ive just received some from an online seller that has more livestock in it than chaeto by the looks of it, so thought id ask before throwing it away
Other than pods what else is living in it ?

Hard to say. Def a snail of some sort, possibly flat worms??

You can dip but it likely won't remove/kill everything you want it too... I wouldn't take the chance.
Thanks, i didnt really want to introduce pests unnecessarily, interested to know what they are though, ill get some macro pictures of them later
