Can we see your 72” long by 24” wide aquascapes?

I’ve got a pile of rocks waiting to be resurrected back into something more graceful than the old rock wall that they used to be, but I would love to see what other folks are doing. I’m not really a minimal aquascape person, and NSA isn’t quite my thing because I like shy fish, but I definitely don’t want to do the slope up to the back wall again either. I like long tunnels and plating, encrusting, or tabling corals more than stag horns, and I have HIGH flow down the front and back walls of the tank via a closed loop drilled through the sides. I messed about with some tunnels but I don’t like the look and felt like I couldn’t make enough room for the tabling corals with them. Then I discovered epoxy, so now I’m looking at things differently. Y’all got any inspiration for an old broad?

Both right and left structures are coves, and have many caves.

It looks a bit different since this photo, shifted some pieces due to growth and fragged some others. Bigger than your dimensions, but not by all that much. Decided instead of a whole new tank for SPS that I would just cut my current in half and do it that way instead.

I have xenia on a rock that was already growing acros & milli's so they are along for the ride, for now. I'll post an updated picture later once I turn on the whites later on. I like the newer look better than pic below.

Sweet thread resurrection folks! I’m LOVING seeing all the responses y’all are putting down here. I really, really appreciate seeing that some folks aren’t afraid to put ROCK in their tanks, either! No shade on NSA, it’s just not my thing. I like small, shy, unassuming fish who need the security of a lot of places to bail out and hide in, as well as weird sponges and cryptic creatures of all sorts. You guys are showcasing some bold and beautiful aquascapes.

One of the challenges I’m working with is that I have a old school super braced acrylic aquarium. I’m going bare bottom not because I hate sand, but because I hate scratches, and love high flow. So I’m thinking maybe I should do some small formations I can put in place that are independently stable and then join them together into the illusion of larger structures? I’m worried about the weight of coral eventually making them unstable though. I’m just scared that if I epoxy it inside the tank to something bigger than what’ll fit through these openings, I’ll have some kinda disaster that makes me need to break it apart. What do you folks think?

My tank has a lot of bracing as well. My aquascape (which is kind of NSA but bare with me) is held together with rods. No matter how much or little rock you want, it is easier to get into your tank with the bracing if you drill your rock and connect it with rods. You can build islands and then use rods to attach bridges and arches to create one big structure.

@rhostam Your tank is beautiful, and I absolutely love your gorgonians. Super sweet to see the daylight/natural sun moments too. I actually liked having natural sun in my reefs, did great things for my macroalgae, and I love having tang gangs so that’s always a bonus.
