can this space in the nano top off area be used for refuge gym?

this is for the Red sea nano XL, this is the top off area but actually I don't need to use it for the top off area if I can buy the accessory ATO plus, then there is this extra area. It's about 7 x 3 x 5 deep right there is a out flow house in the area. I'm wondering trying to be creative if I just might use this area for refugium media/ material such as , dragons tongue , or other good refugee material? any ideas? thanks!!!
actually, I'm impressed with the amount of appointed area available for sump type uses for this nano system. it measures like 20 inches high and 20 inches wide and about almost 4 inches across. that's not a bad sump for a nano

I don’t see why not. You may need to put in some egg crate to separate the chaeto from the small area you have your ATO and heater in. They also have submersible lights you could mount vertically in there if its deep enough.
