Can I travel with a tank that is cycling?

Hey guys, how is it going? I've started a saltwater tank a week ago, and it is still cycling. I don't want to put fish on it for another month. So I was wondering, is it ok for me to travel for 2 week without having to set up an ATO or getting a tank sitter?

Evaporation would be an issue IMO . Just get an ATO one of the best investments I've made

You could just cover the tank and you would have little/no evaporation

When I left mine unattended, I turned the heater down a bit, pushed all the pumps down further into the water and covered. You can even leave the light off.

Finding a lid has been a problem for my tank. I have 2 HOB filters on the tank, a biocube skimmer and the light that all get in the way of the lid. So if I want to use a lid that would fit perfectly I need to have one custom made, and if I make it out of acrylic I'm sure it will get expensive. Hahaha

Yes however the salt levels will be higher due to evap when u get back

Hey before u leave put a dead shrimp in the tank. One you will eat will do it will help to build the bacteria.

If you unplug the light, you could just use Saran wrap? Just leave a little bit of opening for some air.

And turn off the skimmer!! it is too early to run one.
