Hello, i have a 110 gallon tank that i want to make a fish only aquarium, i was thinking of getting a harlequin tusk(I’ve had one for a year before and then Sold it) and a pinkface/rainbow wrasse. Can these fish exist in the aquarium without killing each other, another option could be a hardwicke wrasse or lyre tail wrasse.
Thanks

My tusk is only a threat to snails and it doesn’t bother the other fish, but I don’t have any other wrasse in the tank. I think they could coexist without issues but let’s see what other people think.

The compatibility chart I looked at says CAUTION with more than one wrasse.

I would say no bc Harlequin tusk can be quite timid while the pink face is usually quite aggressive.

Make your own thread in diagnosis form for better answers. You will need to post that youtube video I asked you about already in the other thread, post your parameters and tank info

I guess you never keep a Harlequin Tusk. Nothing bother a Tusk. I would not worry about the actual if the two fish is about the same size.

I believe just one wrasse would do.

My Tusk does not bother anybody other than eaten anything bite size I put into the tank, living or dead. But he is taken no BS from anybody. He is an impressive fish can be mean. In a LFS here in Corpus Christi, they had two Tusks about 3.5-4.5 inches in two stock tanks side by side. Overnight, one Tusk jumped over to the other tank and kill the second Tusk.
I always keep Tusk in my tank. It is true that I never keep a Pinkface wrasse, but I doubt very much that anything can push a Tusk around.

I’ve had at least half a dozen harlequin tusks over the past 15 years as I find them to be the best looking large wrasse. All my tanks have been fish only. I am also an avid large angel & tang keeper. My tanks range from 40 to 560G. In all of my experiences, harlequin tusks will try to stand their ground towards larger aggressive fish such as tangs and angels but they don’t boss them around. More often than not after a few years, they don’t compete for food as well & get bullied by large tangs and angels. They do fine and do bully smaller reef fish, but can’t stand up to the big boys.

Op’s question is between two large fish only wrasses. I’ve never tried keeping two large fish only wrasses because of the general aggression issue related to the Thalassoma species. In comparison of what I have heard about the Thalassoma species versus my own experience with harlequin tusk, I think it is risky to keep them together.

Would love to hear what you think about different tank mates. We have 2 clownfish, 1 blue green chromis, a falco hawkfish and a yellow angelfish. The tank does have very large snails and 4 strawberry conchs. Will these be safe? Suggestions on other tankmates to add? 180 gal tank

I really thought about a Tusk for my FO 200 peninsula ended up going a different way. but great looking fish.

I *think* 2 large wrasses in a 110 is pushing it. pick one then get other cool fish you like.

have you thought about butterflies? IDK just an idea...
good luck

Weird how that works, mine bullied everything. Threadfin butterfly, foxface, clownfish, royal gramma, had to get rehome very quickly
I have heard the same from others. that is why I opted out from one myself. but on the other hand some say there nice as can be.
I wounder if its a gender thing? maybe males are more aggressive??
IDK just shooting from the hip.
