Can green star polyp grow like this?

I put my GSP on a frag stone on the sand bed.
Can it grow/thrive like this? I had it a couple days but it doesn’t wanna open completely.
Theres moderate flow in that area.

Kill it while you have the chance.
to add to this; it will eventually grow over itself and over the sand. your call if you want to keep it that long, but for now it should be fine - let me acclimate to the tank. they're very very hardy.

Exactly what my plan is, i’m gonna keep it pruned as a small little bush
I love the stuff. I tore this tank down recently and ripped this big one off and now I have some in all of my other tanks lol. I like it on the back wall but did place pieces on some rocks that can be moved.

I love the stuff. I tore this tank down recently and ripped this big one off and now I have some in all of my other tanks lol. I like it on the back wall but did place pieces on some rocks that can be moved.

I hope mine stops being shy soon, i like the look of it as well.
