like the title says! I really really like this fish. Is there anyone who would recommend one or this just a fish to just not even mess with in the aquarium with their temperament??

Tank is 300 gallons 96x24x29

Tangs: 7

  • Naso
  • Unicorn
  • Bristletooth
  • Gold rim or Achilles
  • Sailfin
  • Atlantic Blue tang
  • Sohal?

Angels: 2

  • Girdled
  • Regal
  • Dwarf angel (coral beauty or flame or both?
  • Gray poma angel?

Butterflies: 3

  • Pyramid butterfly
  • Saddleback
  • Raccoon butterfly
  • Meyer’s butterfly

Eels: 3

  • Snowflake
  • Jeweled
  • White eye

Misc. 6

  • Maroon clown (x 2)
  • Foxface
  • PP
  • Marine betta
Fish in italics are what I have. Regular font are fish I decided on. Ones with question marks are what Im not sure on. Any suggestions welcome! Thinking of maybe a reef tank, but I do have a 32 biocube reef because I know 90% of my list probably will eat corals so no biggie if they do. But if I did want corals it would be zoas, mushrooms: GSP, xenia or leathers (easy corals that dont cost much in the event the fish eat them since I like the fish more than corals lol.

I wouldn't hesitate, but I'd add the sohal last, and start with a smaller specimen. My 5.5" rules the tank alongside the 5.5" clown tang. Mine are in an 8x2x2 240 gallon.

Even the 13" vlamingii tang and the 9" maculosus angel back down from the 2 of them.

Wow stunning!!! Is that a clown tang as well?? I was going back and forth for the longest time between the two but always heard the clown was nastier to some people! Which do you like better or do they kinda balance each other out? And 100% on adding the sohal last, trying to find a juvenile but they seem hard to come by! I found a 5 inch one that Im thinking of pulling the trigger on and either setting up in the sump or invest in a good size QT to observe/treat until my stock is where I want it to be beforw adding it! I love how simple yet intricate their patterns are. What all is with your sohal?? Also is the sohal aggressive with your unicorn? Mine has just gotten comfortable, shes a juvenile. Just a little smaller than ny 6 inch naso. She was bulling by a trigger so I dont want her to become terrified of being out in the open again. Taken her a month since the trigger was removed to get over thinking the trigger will attack her! Shes a lovely fish

Pls add the size of each fish. Thx
My foxface and naso are 6-7 inches, the unicorn is 5. Two of my three eels are 20-22 inches; the last is about 14-15 (each max size is 24 inches). My bristletooth is about 2 inches, my maroon female is 3-4, male is half her size. And the rotten scar face damsel is about 3 inches. Pyramid is 2 inches, porc puffer still a itty bitty baby, maybe 2 inches. Marine betta is 4-5. I plan on getting all these fish as juveniles or as small as possible to watch them grow :) any suggestions on what fish to take off the list/replace is welcome! I dont want to have an overly crowded tank, which is why I decided on the two smaller angels vs the emp and queen. The biggest fish I want in there would be the naso, unicorn tang and one other tang (sohal is what Im currently looking at). I also just dont want a fish that is going to stress out my PP who is just figuring out how to be a puffer lol (this dude is scared of dime sized hermits lol puffs and floats away every time he sees one pop out of his shell!!)

Beautiful fish but very aggressive. Really depends on the other tank mates.

What do you think about the list above with the sohal? Im really not going to re arrange (other than take off a few fish) from the list just to accommodate a sohal so if thats what needed to be done I would just remove the sohal and pick a tang that would fit better with the above list! :)

Yes it's a clown in with the sohal. They took some work to get along, but now buddy up and swim around the tank without issue. Sohal definitely let's everyone know he's in charge, but no damage is done.

The sohal even puts the picasso trigger in it's place.

Yes, it's a FOWLR.
Did you find it necessary to get the clown to help curb the sohal’s temper or was it just cause you wanted a clown tang too??

I just wanted both. Stumbled across someone selling him locally from a tank tear down, and almost never see one available here that isn't half dead. Had to swoop in and snag him lol.

There are certain fish my wife just understands, if I stumble across a healthy one, and have the money to buy it at that time, it's coming home.

I personally would observe a couple more days. Looks like bruising to me. If it continued to spread, I'd pull the fish to quarantine and treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic like kanaplex for a week or so.
