Why is it a new Apex ph probe has to be in a system for some time, like four weeks, before it will calibrate and give an accurate reading?

Working my 2nd Apex install, and getting the same low ph reading that I did on my first, it only calibrated and read accurate when it was in the system for four weeks.

Feedback and anecdotal confirmation is appreciated.

I have never experienced this kind of issue before. My only idea is possibly the probe was stored dry or the storage solution leaked out of the vile protecting the tip?
