I recently purchased a used CADE tank from someone getting out of the hobby. My question is, will removing the secondary back glass( that serves to make the overflow section and the topoff water section) affect the structure of the tank and cause it to fail… point to note the actual back glass is 10mm thick and front and sides are 12mm. The tank dimensions are about 47inch long 27 front to back and 22 high… im just wondering if a 10mm thick back glass is adequate for a tank that size. Also the back glass has a small chip at the bottom … see pics for chip and the location of where the secondary back glass was( there is silicone residue where i removed this secondary back)

So the secondary glass was about 3 inches infront the actual back glass

Removing that panel should have no impact on the tanks overall structure. But what are you planning on doing with the tank? I mean, you now have 3 holes in the bottom panel and I'm trying to work out why you removed it..

Was this one of the models with rear topoff? If so I would be worried. I think the back glass is thinner because it was previously supported by multiple dividers/effectively braces from the black dividing panel. Now that 10mm back pane has no support along the full length, is that correct?

Yeah good point! I just checked the back panel on my tank and it is a slightly smaller thickness, so by him removing that inner glass panel which is the same thickness as the front and sides, will weaken the tanks structure.
