I didnt know where to post this after looking at all the groups so I decided to post it here...

Currently im running a 30 gallon tank. What got me into all this was seeing a copperband butterfly after keeping freshwater tanks. Recently all my freshwater tanks have been taken down and I want to get a big reef tank. I am a bit confused on where to start. Ive figured out the size but both systems seem to have their downfalls. I would do DIY however due living in a city and having some back issues I dont really want to have the hastle of dealing with all that....

Both aquariums look amazing. Ive seen so much on CADE but not much on Maxspect as I know its not really in the US yet. I feel both are probably great tanks and while I know I will probably have issues with both I figured Id ask people that have done it before and maybe can tell me what really annoyed them about their system.
the tank will be an LPS tank.

CADE
PROs:
  • ATO system
  • ability to use filter roller (which i love, socks are a pain)
  • Store will bring it to me and set it up for free
  • weir is external meaning more actual space
  • glass cabinets (i like the look)
Cons:
  • Korean version comes with only 6 plugs (seems super low)\
  • will need an additional power strip so wiring mess
  • Sock filter area will need to be adjusted to fit roller mat
  • one outflow pipe with one return to the tank
  • need to buy skimmer, lights, etc (maybe a positive)

Maxspect
Pros:
  • Everything controlled in one app (maybe negative as puts you into one brand)
  • larger refugium
  • reinforced glass
  • flow valve on top making it easier to adjust
  • adjustable outflow
  • PVC sump (idk if its good or bad)
Cons:
  • about 1000 dollars more (however comes with skimmer/gyros/return pump)
  • ATO is inconvient and small compaired to the CADE because it sits ontop of the sump
  • uses filter socks or roll filters that fit in a 4 inch sock holder (maybe i can cut it away but feels bad to do on such an expensive thing... maybe it would effect the integrity of the PVC sump?)
  • stuck in the maxspec line?

I would go with Cade
I was thinking the same but when i went to go look at their tanks they were super tall. Like annoyingly tall. I think seeing the tanks made me want custom. Also Cade's sumps are poorly designed. The refugium space is next to none and has wasted space for gimics like media trays.... no need for media if you have a fuge and some live rock.... For anyone else out there thinking of buying a premade tank I highly suggest you go look at them and youll probably realize its really what you want. Managed to get a custom tank with aluminum frame build for 500 bucks cheaper too!

I agree. Sump is not that great. Tanks height but it's more personal preference and I like it being height.

I would expect a sump like how Innovative marine gives.

Yeah I think it's really all personal preference. For me having a freshwater tabk that was the same size and not being able to reach the bottom was hard. Beautiful tank though and love the weir and ato

True I still use a small stepping stool to put corals and clean the tank. It's annoying though :) :)
