I honestly never thought that we would get back into the hobby... Yet, here we are. All it took was the @Waterbox Aquariums Blue Friday (and my husband being out of town on a business trip) and we're back again. This time we're going to do things A LOT differently. Slow & steady wins the race... Last time we wanted all the fish and all the corals and all the new reefing toys NOW NOW NOW. I guess it's a good thing that our tank is 8 to 12 weeks out.

Today we bought:
  • 215 pounds of dry rock (Bought some really great pieces at Age of Aquariums here in Long Beach, CA)
  • Two 32g garbage cans
  • Two gallons of bleach
We're not going the live rock route this time. Since we have 12 weeks, we're going to bleach cure the rock and then we're going to cycle it prior to getting our tank (according to this video by @Bulk Reef Supply:

.

We put one gallon of bleach in each trash can and then filled with tap water. We're planning on letting the rock soak for two weeks and then we'll let it dry out for a week. After a week, we're going to put it back in water with some Erāse-Cl Dechlorinator and we'll test with some Chlorine strips to make sure we're good to go.

That's it for now... :)

This rock has basically been sitting out in a parking lot for who knows how long. We wanted to make sure that anything that's living inside of it (especially dormant micro-organism's) die. We're trying to limit any issues when we put the rock in the tank.
Ok thanks

Haven't decided on lighting yet. Am looking at the AI Hydra 32's. Any suggestions?

for mt 750XXL and WB 5526 I am going photon V2+ dont have the fancy phone app but the lights are great them selfs. might be worth looking in to.

I have not hear to much about the new AI hydras. there might be an issue with the fan running when light is on but I hear there is a fix coming for that. this is all hear say from around the web. I would look in to them more before spending the $$

other option is a LED/T5 hybrid i thought about that to but more stuff to break and bulb replment every year. but ppl to love them??
